Official Squatch Watchers

Wow, the Milk Drinker gave me and DH a nice treat this morning. He woke up at 7:15, neither DH nor I were ready to get up and play with him. So he crawled down to the end of the bed, reached toward his playpen and made his version of the "play" sign. I use this sign when I put him in the playpen and say "Go play". I put him in the playpen and lay back down. An hour and 15 min later I wake up to him giggling and still playing happily by himself. It was LOVELY to get a little extra sleep.

OK seriously going to bed this time, but HAD to share this little tidbit....

Tonight until tomorrow morning around 8, we're under a freeze warning.... yet tomorrows forcast calls for SUNNY with a high of 68°!!!! :barnie
Yeah, the weather is borderline psycho. Us too! I say they qualify as free range. The chickens that is.

We had a big huge hive of honey bees in our wall, carpenter ants, stink bugs, beetles and flying squirrels! Oh and our current plague is carpenter bees!
what happens to the honey? Does it just keep getting bigger and bigger. I've seen on the news where people have someone come out and they cut the comb down and it's massive! Can you put out bee boxes and lure the bees out to them instead of in your walls?

I have seen those, but not gotten around to making some. Hubby has been smashing them. We got an electric swatter at Harbor freight which broke the first day!
We have one of those electric ones and it's a POS... I hit a fly with it and it didn't die, but it stunned it. I had to put the fly on the swatter and hold the button down for 20 seconds before it actually died. We used to have one that was amazing and killed them instantly.

WTT?!?? It was over 80 two days ago. Yes, it’s snowing. View attachment 1342730
It's snowing here today. It was summer last week. It's insane. I've had more than enough of this.. I think @BantyChooks is sending us all her Canadian spring, which is just more winter.

I want to pose a question to you all.

When we go to sell our eggs, I want to list them as semi free range, as they do get some times during the week where they are out of their run and graze in our front and side yard. We don't let them free range unsupervised, nor when the weather is particularly tatery. So, semi free range listed would be OK yes? I can also put cage free since they aren't in cages... and they *free range* in their run that easily gives them each more than 10sq ft per bird. Their coops are always open into the run as well, which would also count as cage free..... or am I overstretching?

With our chickens producing close to 20 eggs per day, we really gotta get off our duffs and get eggs out there selling. I'm not sure who, but one of our chickies is laying very small, very dark olive green eggs. I need to put all our little eggs together in a basket and take a pretty photo.

Well, gnight all. Hope everyone had a luscious day!
I think 'cage free' is honest.. Not sure about the specifics for what qualifies as free range for commercial eggs, but you could put free range and if someone asks you can give them specifics. If you're putting a sign up at the end of your drive I'm not sure it's necessary to put anything more that EGGS & the price.. that's seems to be what most people around here do.

We already had a bee keeper come and get the bees and honey. But yeah, they keep making more honey. The keepers said it was the biggest hive they had seen in terms of bees. All three of them got badly stung, they were poorly equipped. But they got the honey out and caught the queen and a lot of the bees. Now the area is properly boarded up.

Good morning, sweet Squatchers!

Here are a couple of new photos of Pippins. She is VERY fluffy and frizzled, and is a big scaredycat, even though she is the biggest of my babes! (I'm hoping she's a she. They're a month old now. Any guesses? @WVduckchick )

That's awesome! Those mornings are few and far between (says the mothers of an almost 9 y/o FMD)

I woulda tried to get a jar of the honey, just to taste it!

We are not teally fond of honey. They did offer us some. Felt bad about them getting stung.

Wow, she is pretty cool looking! :love
Nothing screaming male yet. And usually the girls are a little more shy, so maybe??
Can you get a profile shot of her face?

And her color is interesting. Mine have either been lighter - more white-ish with blue feathers intermingled, or darker blue all over. I don't see any really dark specks on her yet.
