Official Squatch Watchers

I did see this one. It seemed large to me. I date the top of the egg. They show it marking the side. The egg safe ink is does not dry apparently either. So I can imagine the eggs having smudged dates and ink all over.

Could you have a non toxic marker and a different color for each day of the week? I just write the date on one of my eggs and line them up together on a flat egg holder.
I‘ve been marking the start and end of a date and lining them up. But I guess I have weird egg handling habits and I’m afraid I’ll get them mixed up and then not know what egg was laid when.
I saw several on Amazon, but I didn’t get one because I don’t know why you would really need it.
Why do you need one (in general)?
I understand you need to date the cartons with the “packed on” date, but I don’t really understand that either. It takes at least two days for me to get a dozen. In my mind I would be dating one half of the carton with one date and then the other half with a different date.
My record for a day is 19 eggs. I usually hand date them all in pencil. But if I get days in a row of that many eggs 😲. Thought a stamp would be easier. Line them up in the carton and boop boop boop dated eggs!

I did the tops. Have to stamp side to side not forward back or straight on. Dried fine for me.

Yeah, but why do you have to date eggs?
I want to follow all laws and guidelines, but don’t really care for adding extras while I’m still learning the basics. I don’t have a chicken mentor and no one I have ever known has done any of the things I’m finding out is Ohio law if you want to sell them. Such as marking the egg cartons with your info., etc.
Also, I have no idea how I would date my quail eggs. The celadon’s are easy, but my other hens lay standard, very spotted, eggs. I’m so confused :(.

I should add I am aware of making sure your eggs are fresh and that is a definite reason to date them, but is it necessary and/or what other reason would there be?

:idunnoHow can you call such a tiny little thing a cannon? But check out the fresh water,it only takes 5 minutes to turn it murky.

Here is the tub. I just need a way to plug the drain, something like a big rubber plug. No plumbing, just drain it down into the creek bed you can see behind it.

I vote to plumb a ball valve in. I have seen what the water in my 50 gallon stock tank looks like after just one day......I ain't reaching into that. 🤢🤮

What about a chain on it, pull the plug like when we were kids! I have well water sometimes, when we have had rain. That is what I would fill it with. End of duck fun, flush down the wash. Deer come to drink out of it now, if it rains. (it isn't level and will collect water at the back)

These 2 are across the creek from that tub.

If you secure the chain up so it doesn't fall in the water....I would worry about a tangled duck and potential injury or drowning. My ducks all dive and go in crazy circles.

Somehow the quote thing got messy....I think it is still able to be read so.....yeah....not fixing it.
