My sweet boy is not doing any better. In fact, this morning his eyes looked extremely yellow...like my husband's Husky when his body systems started shutting down in old age. It is time. If it is Mareks, then it has definitely spread to some organs, as @BY Bob suspected. I'll snuggle with him for a bit before, and tell him what a wonderful boy he is. I wonder just how much they understand by body language and tone. I hope he knows I love him.

Rest in peace, my sweet boy. May you be strong and well and have all the hens you wish for on the other side.

@BY Bob , I can't tell you how happy I am that you have a chicken in the leghorn line again! I know how much loss you have had lately, and just how much you adore the leghorns. Hopefully this legbar will not disappoint. (Yes, I know you will love her regardless, but I truly hope she has most of those traits that you just love in leghorns - the strong, sweet, intelligent independant but lovable 'women' that they are!)

I can't say how much this means to me. I am trying very hard not to put too much pressure on her. No matter what I will be thrilled to just see her walk across the lawn.
