It absolutely is frustrating. The real problem is a veterinary community that does not value the lives of our feathered friends the same as they do dogs and cats. It's just a chicken. Kill it and get another. If the government is going to restrict our access to the tools we need to save their lives then they need to mandate training and care by all licensed veterinarians.

Yes you are right. I put her back. She was there for one hour only, after I checked an app my DH has and then these posts, that's what I figure. I hope that no damage was done. But only time will tell.

Step one toward reuniting Lil' Queenie with at least one or two of her flock-mates! I got hold of the lady who knows the family that took some of the flock. Doesn't know how many they have. She says the chicken keeper is a 14 year-old boy, who got a couple of hens for eggs, sold two dozen eggs, and saved that money to buy two more hens. This lady said it is a nice family, he has parents and grandparents there helping him along. Does this sound promising, and am I totally off base worrying? Not that I should talk, being in the penalty box now....

Now it is just do you want to try to to get Queenie a friend or reunite her with this boy... vetting the boy? And what happened to that handsome Roo?

That is true. Also only one species. Being a vet is much harder!

Industrial poultry farmers do not treat their chickens as we do. That's the problem. I truly wish it was easier to learn because I would make it my next career. I could not even get into a vet school and then they would not teach me what I want to know.

This is probably a book all industrial poultry farmers should read.
