It truly is going to be a long day for you. :hugs:hugs
Well I decided to try my “take a nap after a cup of coffee” technique for improving the weather, and woke up as the rain lightened off. I figured it’s not like any of the girls will want to be out in that downpour anyways... I was wrong, so wrong! There is white stuff on the ground. Awful cold wet white stuff.

Note the dark grey spots? That is slush. One of the reasons I dislike S*** is that we get very wet heavy stuff, not the fluffy powder, dry cold stuff. Do not be deceived... all the mud is still there, the ground is unfrozen, and it will soak you through as fast as the rain does! I’m really hoping we don’t have a white Christmas.

Yeah, that’s not good... I can see why you would be concerned! Pic #2 was a community fire smart burn I worked. Many of our volunteer fire department were there, and it was done to actively decrease the debris around people’s properties to help prevent fires. Once you get to the “Burning a couple full trees, and truckload after truckload of yard trimmings” stage it gets scary. You need a special permit from the forest service here for burns over 12’ and supposedly anything piled with a machine.
Small burn can happen here, but only if the newspaper says it’s okay to do so. Also I think they were drinking at the time.
a bonfire and a drunk are never a good idea

Really, half the animals are either terrifying, venomous, or (like the quokka) terrifyingly unassuming and cute enough to be quite suspicious considering all the other dangerous creatures there... Why wouldn’t there be a carnivorous cousin to the koala? And have you seen the claws on those things? Herbivore or no, they are a little scary in their own right! Let’s just all take a moment to be thankful that there is no Australian Ursine, at all. I would rather take the mythical drop bear than whatever a grizzly would have evolved into there!
Koalas are more a handful than they appear. They're very heavy. They screech. And their claws are very long and strong. But they sleep 22 hours a day and they usually move slowly (although I've seen one running). So they're not much bother unless they drop a poo pellet on you by accident.

If ever you hold one, don't pat its head because the ears are very sensitive. But you can pat its back as much as you like.

And that's my koala knowledge exhausted :) 🐨
