I looked at Beetov-Hens grave tonight, while tucking in the others. It’s dark outside, but I imagined her standing on top of the grave , saying “goodbye daddy , I didn’t get a chance to tell you that “ :hugs
Maybe when you had her in before with you when she wasn't feeling well, she was telling you that she might be dying soon, and if it happened when you weren't there, to not worry or feel bad about it, and to not forget that she's got the comfort of her tribe when she's not with you, and that she always knows and feels your love, wherever she is. :hugs :hugs

Oh yes a base heater I have seen those. I almost got one but my waterers are plastic... Didn't know is if they would melt 😊

I have not noticed my gang dunking their wattles but will be more observant now. I will run up to the feed mill tomorrow and grab the one I saw, as it seems to be the only one in the area, I called a couple places today and no one has any... Shortage??
My bucket is plastic and it has no issue.
That said, I think the one Bob uses is a more robust solution. I am still experimenting!

It's winter. Around here they only stock so many before winter starts. The one I posted is available on Amazon as well. Some of the base heaters I've seen will melt plastic waterers. I would check before I did something like that.

That was my worry too.

I am heading to the feed mill again tomorrow to get the one they have there. Not open Sundays unfortunately, too bad, tomorrow is supposed to be heavy snow... Ugh! Hate cleaning off my truck hahaha

Hen Fever, A History Lesson

I came across this on you tube today. I thought everyone might enjoy the lesson.

Wow, just like the Arabian horse back in the 80s.... People paid 6&7 figures for mares and even stallions. Then that bubble burst and you couldn't give them away!.

@Bob, well I had some of my gang out on Mount Poopmore when Pangoo started aggressively growling, I told him hey kiddo it's just Blue Jays, but he was really GROWLING, the hens took to it running back to the barn, Blanche FLEW from the manure pile to the barn door - I was afraid she would land in the water trough 😲.

I looked up and there was a Red Tail Hawk flying around the barn! He saw that hawk way before I saw it and alerted the gang! I made my voice really urgent and hustled the rest and him back to the barn.

Once in the barn I praised him and made a fuss over him; he was such a good boy! Of course now I am really going to have to do that covered run I keep planning.
