You are killing me!
But no, I will just be happy to see them when they emerge.
Right now I need to focus on my poor lame Bernadette and can’t be going off on road trips for new chicks.
I was going to ask how she was doing, but thought I'd give you 24 hours from your last update, :lau. However...since you mentioned her......

Unless I can trick Baby into accepting a few chicks, I'm not going to keep any this time around. After 2 weeks and down to the home stretch Holly snapped completely out of her broodiness. She was the hen I was counting on to foster a few babies darn her. Baby has held strong this entire time sitting on nothing, I never gave her any eggs or special treatment hoping she'd snap out of it herself like Holly ended up doing. If I hatch out a feathered foot Corona baby, or one of the Butter and Creamy chicks hatch out yellow with feathered feet I'll try to see if Baby will accept them. If not, I'll wait until later on in the spring and let another broody have some corona eggs.
Awww...why not let Baby have them regardless...and then ,maybe Holly will truly be ready when the next batch hatches?????🤷‍♀️ You can never have too many chicks & chickens (well, you can, but that's beside the point:D...) If she is that steadfastly broody, she should accept them (?or is there a history I don't know about??)

You are probably saying 'What...who would be so excited about that...I mean it's okay, but...."

Well, it is my official Chicken Run Chair!!! It is perfect...sturdy, roomy seat with arm for me (knees and hips are bad, so arm for getting up is a huge win) AND...it has an attached side table for the hens that want to be close but not held!!! I'm in love with it. Now, just a bit of light sanding and some eurathane...and a cheap seat cushion...and we will be ready to go.:celebrate

If Baby will accept them she can have a couple. I do not know if she will accept any as this is her first time being broody and she is only 7 months old. In a perfect situation I will have the Corona chicks I want to hatch plus maybe a yellow feathered leg chick. In the long run, this year I want 1 Corona daughter with feathered feet to keep, plus that feather feet yellow chick I tried to hatch out unsuccessfully last year. I know from my cousin now that it can be done. Will it happen for me, and will it end up being a hen, only time will tell.

They move so fast it is hard to get a non-blurry photo! :(

I'm beginning to think that my 3rd "white egg layer" is actually oone of my black chicks, nt a chipmunk, and that I was shorted a BCM, not a Welsummer. Not all the marans have feathers on their feet, so I didn't think twice at first. However, you will notice that in the first photo above, one black chick has a little yellow on the top of her head. She is the only one....I'm beginning to think she isn't a BCM, as no pics of BCM babies have that.....

And, a special Mugshot: Our adopted boy Elroy:View attachment 3067956
The yellow head spot is indicative of barring. That chick will be barred to some degree. I've seen olive Eggers barred (pinstripes), cuckoo marans, barred rocks, dominiques (rose combs), and it's frequently used in sex-link/auto-sexing too.

I get those head spots on my BCM crosses… but not on Chicks described as “she” so there’s a chance of maybe some gender identity issues if it is at least partially Marans.

The refinishing bug bites again! Mwahahaha…. Happy sanding! I actually find refinishing furniture relaxing… I’ve got this beautiful walnut vintage corner desk I picked up for $10 as my first rebuilding from nothing in my 20’s piece. It took me 10 years to get around to finishing it but, so worth it.

What a fantastic piece! And yes, totally perfect for chicken visiting - even for medical examination.
What would it have been for originally do you think?
