This sounds like a very sensible system… especially the consideration for rising costs of living… that is something that we should have here as well. I won’t go into the difference between minimum wage and a living wage here, but suffice it to say the gap between the two is significant.

Yep I got used to the bigs buck in the energy sector. Reality check for work here at home. Need to get back out west I guess....

I don't really know the economic logic behind cost of living wage increases, but whenever wages fall behind the cost of living, it's a problem and the media make a fuss about it.

Makes sense doesn't it, because when people can manage on their wages, they can spend more, which supports local industry, which employs more people, and around it goes.

And that’s how an economy actually works… However, if a persons wage doesn’t cover their housing expenses, they have to work two jobs and 60-70hrs a week to keep a roof over their heads and eat. Then they not only don’t have the disposable income to put back into the community, but even if they do have some spending money left after their basic needs are met, they likely won’t have the time or energy to use it in the community and are much more likely to buy something online rather than in a local shop. Add in millionaire offshore owners with multiple rental homes with 3-4 illegal suites in them, collecting obscene rental fees and then padding their non local bank accounts with the hard earned income of multiple families who are struggling just to survive… and then you name it “Vancouver”

So, I know this is hard with fuzzy chicks...but I had to do this once. If it is somewhat under the wing....can you take a lady's razor and shave the fuzz....or trim with scissors...and either put a couple of stitches in the skin to hold it together....or use some steri strips? If you have a wide 'scar' because the skin edges aren't close, you can end up with 1 or two problems: skin adhesion as it regrows, and a large area that never grows feathers.

I have used just regular (but the smaller ones) hand sewing needles and cotton thread. Sterilze both (either use a betadine solution, or white vinegar wet/soak both needle & thread.) And tie a large knot so it doesn't pull through/tear the delicate skin.

I’m basically trying the steri-strip, and waiting on DH to get home tonight… just too squirmy and in such an awkward place. She doing quite well, all things considered and I’ve got a fairly decent tape job in, although it took several attempts and was enough to convince me that I want a second hand, if not a pair, for my next attempt. Then again, are chickens vulnerable to strep? Turns out that’s what his burn has become infected with . He should be here about 11pm Pacific time, and is going in for his ultrasounds and cardiac stuff Saturday at 4pm, and then another follow up for the infection on Wednesday in Victoria. It hasn’t moved into his bones or ligaments from what they can tell.

My guess is if you keep it clean with some anti-infective agent it will heal well with no closure. Young skin heals fast!
