I sure wish I could send some cool weather to you. Of course now we are ramping the heat and humidity up here now.Yep. It's super frustrating for sure.
The mosquitoes will be ferocious now

This is not great news. I'm so very sorry. I fear you have done all that's possible. So awful and it just feels so random.I can't pick another black chicken out of loyalty to Bella!
The new syringe and tubing works like a dream. But I fear Bella is going down hill. Her crop is now not emptying. Well, not fully emptying.
She sneezed (as she does) and sprayed chick formula and some meal worms which she had last night all over me.
She hasn't aspirated and apart from the couple of meal worms she 'sneezed' out she has had no solid food for almost a week - just my tube feeding. So I assume her slowing crop indicates that her body is shutting down and I think I will lose her soon.
She is still somewhat perky and interested in her surroundings. She moves herself to the nest box at night and to a corner of the run for the day, but apart from that she just sits and watches what goes on around her.
I am not ready to euthanize because I don't believe she has pain and she is still alert and interested in her surroundings - but I obviously cannot tube feed her if her crop is half full.

I have to say I truly love having you here. I know you would never do anything insensitive on purpose. No one here would.Thank you for your answer and those of @rural mouse , @Ponypoor and @bgmathteach . I feel somewhat more at ease. I confess that sometimes I don't even dare ask for news. The time range and the number of posts make it impossible to follow every update, I understand. I agree that it's nice to have a lighter note during sad events, though I'm always dramatic about my chickens.
I'm certain all is forgiven and already forgotten.Yes I remember now
I read too fast and thought I read Xzit I about freaked out
Not having a good day, it's raining we need it but darn my arthritis and back and legs are acting up. I am just dumb as a stump today

Bullet had an obsession with dropping pens into the paper feed of one of our printers. Weirdest reason ever for a jam. I figured it was because the pen jar was too close and moved it to a shelf several feet away. Little furball walks over to the pens pulls one out of the jar with her mouth, walks across to the desk, jumps up, and drops it in the paper feedOMG, you had me laughing so hard!!! My cat does that all the time (and swats all writing utensils on the floor... then looks over the edge of the table at them like 'huh, how did that happen'!!![]()
1,2,8,&9? Cockerels the rest I would say pullets. I’m going to have to do a cockerel and chick count soon, I think I’ve lost a chick that was weaning but usually a bit of a loner, and I definitely won the cockerel lottery again this year. Might be a record…Enter My Guessing Game:My 9 littles, pullet or cockerel? (Yes, a couple are obvious...the others????)
I apologize in advance for some of the photos. They won't stay still!!! They are 4 wks. (or is it 5???) as of Wed.

I know I will have to pay tax for this but your Bullet reminds me of a cat I had years ago when I lived a city life. It was in the days of fax machines.Bullet had an obsession with dropping pens into the paper feed of one of our printers. Weirdest reason ever for a jam.
