….and I would love to have them! :love I would love for my friend in Victoria to send me some the next time Tegan is broody, but I would have to deal with the resulting cockerels.
Contact that chef from the article linked a couple of days ago: raising "surplus" roos to something like 147 days before processing for restaurants. He's somewhere in Australia....

By submitting to the State Lab I open up the risk that she tests positive for AI and they come and destroy my remaining 3 birds.
I am agonizing about that.
I don't really believe she has AI - but it does look suspicious that I have lost 4 birds in the space of only a couple of weeks.
I think I have to know, so I will probably do this. But I am wavering.
For me part of it as that you give up her body. There is nothing to bury. You have to weigh the potential knowledge gained vs the loss of closure.

A Lot of Moxie in the Little Girl

Do not doubt Glynda's moxie. She started stalking Éowyn and in this very rough video, she chases Éowyn off. At least that's what she will tell you. Right before the video starts, Glynda had attacked Éowyn's bum. That is why Éowyn is turned facing her.

That Glynda is one tough lady to take on a 20+ lb cat!
Reminds me of Silver vs Castor....with less size difference :lau

Symptoms weren't all the same, were they?

I wasn't suggesting it was a production problem. And of course I don't know what it's like in the States, but here there is a pretty small gene pool for fancy breeds & that can lead to problems ~ all I'm saying. 'Cause I've lost so many birds who shouldn't have died. Look @ the Vorwerks. Of the 8 I've acquired over the last 18 months or so I am down to just two. My only explanation is poor genetics because as a relatively new fancy breed here the gene pool is incredibly small no matter who you buy from. I just don't want you blaming yourself for what I honestly don't believe is your fault. Your keeping arrangement is spectacular. Your birds are incredibly well looked after & loved. You're one of the best keepers I've seen on BYC. Any bird who gets a home with you is incredibly lucky.
:goodpost:

So i bought 2 sebrights (well, a sebright egg and adult) and guess what? They both turned out to be the most annoying meathead roosters! I swear, each rooster i get just gets more annoying and noisy.

Anyway, i had to give them away, so now i have one big Japanese farm. Its like coocoo ville over here.
I'm glad you are able to rehome them.

And then there were three. She is gone.

I will probably call the state lab in the morning but will sleep on it.

Hug your chickens everyone, they are precious little souls and some of them are only with us for a short while.

I am so sorry for your loss. She will be with you always an angel above and around.
