“I knew deep down that you hated me RC! What did I ever do to you?, I can’t help it that I’m a Cochin, and yes I have feathered feets.!” :( Signed Jaffar.View attachment 3385940
Dearest Jaffar,
I don’t hate you. And I love looking at your feathered feet and everyone else’s feathered feet. I am just not convinced they would be such a great fit for the Chicken Palace.

That's a lovely photo of her - it captures her feather colours and textures well! 🥰 🥰 🥰

And, I know this is silly, but I really like her gold colored feather shafts - like just a touch of bling on an otherwise already gorgeous dress.
All dressed up to the nines and what does she do? Hang out in the pasture run where it is snowing heavily.
:th

They are definitely more into me than they were originally and will crowd around me and take snacks or just study me, but there is no way they will let me grab them in daylight.
I am so glad they are warming up to you - though I knew they would. ❤️❤️ They, especially Bab,s weren't unfriendly (well, she would chat with me at night when I put her in the coop - AFTER the initial blood-curdling screech -'you're gonna kill me'.......oh, no, maybe not:lau)
I put them in a couple of months ago so they could have time to get used to them before the laying began. So, yes they have been in there for some time but no they were not always there. I do think, they think they cant fit in, they can easily, but clearly they don’t think this can be true. I think this because they will not even go in them to get treats out.
Is there a way you could rig up a 'roost/landing board' in front of the nest box, like this? They might land on that...then be willing to 'explore' the nest box.

I just realized it is Wednesday and nothing from the Queen as of yet. I hope us having to make her come on and reply or in my case scold me about Phyllis being a chicken the other day has not caused her to skip a day.
Give her time “it’s a lonely road being royalty !”

I'm so sorry you lost her. I swear there is something to that "you will loose your favorites" theory in chickens. February 7th is fast approaching for me and that is the 1 year anniversary of loosing my sweet Poppy.

I am painfully familiar with her ability to curdle the blood with her 'being murdered' shriek.
