At this pace, yes I think she will be white with brown spots in a couple of years. It is my guess that the spots show up after the first adult molt. This is her first adult molt.

I love the spotty colouring it’s so striking to see

Poor guy. Your are not nice about his head feathers. They are so amazing.

Yea they were awesome, but he really was struggling with them, they were so thick and heavy causing the skin to hang down over his left eye, and of course the whole ‘not able to see thing’ was hard on him, I noticed he was having issues getting up and down from the roost ledge on the stairs. Poor fella - handsome but impractical.

I also need to trim up Fluffy and Curly I noted.

But on a happy note, Marty has a ton of new pin feathers coming in - I am thrilled for her! I was extremely worried about her lack of feathers for this winter, and thought of keeping her in the feedroom all winter. And she has take on the role of second mama to the chicks and Henny is allowing it

We had a warming day yesterday, so I sat out on a rock and got SURROUNDED by chooks. Fed them crumbled bits of gluten free protein wraps (gotten for Mom when they joined us for dinner, new, worth trying, not particularly good). The boys were mostly content to stand around and point at bits the girls missed. The ladies squabbled a little over snatching bits from under beaks of others, but kept it to no more than a remonstrative peck and squawk of protest.

Seems I might have made some headway with Xzit last night. This union strike has been ridiculous and the egg laying has terminated. But Xzit was open to new negotiations ( she is after all the the union representative) the words across the table were done in a friendly manner. The actions of both parties civil at best.
