I have Mr wyandante in with me. I’m trying to train him to watch movies with me. But his attention span is focused on the girls (go figure) and he smells like a chicken. The boy needs a bath, but it’s too cold outside for a bath today.

Your 9 ft roost perches have no ladder? Or do you enjoy being the elevator? teehee.Every day I must take the Rockettes off the perches to eat and drink. Some reason they trust me to be their personal elevator to the ground floor. All this is because of mr Wyandottey. I take him inside and give the ladies a break.
Having had chickens, ducks, & geese on my folk's farm as well as uncle's farm, & granpa's farm, I knew the pitfalls ahead of time & was able to steel myself against chicken maths or hatching eggs ~ teehee! It helped that we are not allowed roos here. We're limited to 5 hens/no roos by ordinance. A roo is nice but our hens are able to survive well enough w/o one cuz of our small yard.Who knew chickens were so much trouble?!
Your roos are gorgeous, you know? I miss having one for the sheer majesty of these beauties!Oh, how much I just love to hear Mr Wyandottey screaming at 0:500 every morning.
I’m having trouble setting his time cluck to 0:700
Rudy just waits. He is too sophisticated to be so rude!View attachment 3998695
Yep, on my folks' farm, mom said chicks were delicate & to expect losses. That's why I always ordered in pairs or by 3's to allow for loss. Just never know about chicks but its still best chances if the chick has a hen. Hens will give up their life for babies. I love this old video.I have faith in Poppet. I just worry the first week when any hen hatches or I hatch them myself. Losses happen even under the best of circumstances. From the outside Turkey looks perfect, and is eating drinking and pooping. Still there is a chance I could come out this first week and find her passed for no visible reason. I wish she had 2 or 3, more work on us both but a better chance overall for success for Poppet. Nothing I can do about it. As I said when she went broody in a place I could not reach, what will happen will happen. I just hate to see a Momma put in the work to only hatch 1 and then loose it soon after.
Poppet also has not been bad being a silkie. She is around 1 1/2 years old and this is her 2nd time being broody. The first was around a year old and she was terrible to break. 5 weeks of sitting on nothing.
