So, in FEBRUARY I will be getting my first batch of eggs. Polish chicken lady lost her pompom flock to an opossum and is buying new eggs from a friend. She said she'll happily add a few to her order for me.
And of course, the cochin crosses. We have to have some of those.

Thinking of saving up to buy this little coop to mount to a tabletop with a pullout tray for porch-brooding chicklets. I would be able to insulate and reinforce it easy enough, and the price is good.

Fluffy Butt Acres Synopsis 1/7 - 1/11

Last week's synopsis thanks to RC: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-28289758

It is COLD in almost all of USA. Everyone stays warm! You are going to find lots of winter whining posts this week. With lows been in the 20s, I am going to whine about it too. I did not move to the south for this kind of weather. However, Rebecca reminded us that at least it's good for pest control. Another week and maybe it will get warmed up.

And @GregnLety 's "little Red" is in caption contest if you want to contribute: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-28308470

I'm so EXCITED!!! :celebrate

She's just some kind of RSL. Maybe golden comet but I know they're all more or less the same thing.

I know, I feel bad for her 😭 I hope it doesn't become a regular thing. Especially at her young age. Hopefully it was just a fluke!
Those production breeds are notorious for laying lots of eggs, not sure about big sized eggs. I worry about some of my pullets and hens, I know some are likely some sort of production breed.

Only thing we can do is just be aware and hope they take long breaks in the winter months.

Yup! And if she ever goes broody I'm going to let her be broody for a while. We'll have more eggs than we'll know what to do with before we know it, so we can do without a laying hen for a bit if/when that happens.

Hubby has submitted this song for all of us today.
Great song!

Mum got that ‘Alexa’ thingie for Christmas and we are having fun with it, this morning I was downstairs joking around and was saying to mum she should ‘ask Alexa to play crazy chicken song’ well I guess that computer heard me and started playing that song hahahahaha

Small world!
