Fluffy Butt Acres Synopsis 1/7 - 1/11

Last week's synopsis thanks to RC: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-28289758

It is COLD in almost all of USA. Everyone stays warm! You are going to find lots of winter whining posts this week. With lows been in the 20s, I am going to whine about it too. I did not move to the south for this kind of weather. However, Rebecca reminded us that at least it's good for pest control. Another week and maybe it will get warmed up.

And @GregnLety 's "little Red" is in caption contest if you want to contribute: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-28308470

On my road, there are 7 plots of land (one of which I live on). Three of them belong to some neighbors which I don't know really well, but one of them sold me hatching eggs at one point. Then there is a very cranky neighbor down the road who I don't really talk to either. The property next to me, the owner does not live on it, so I am being a good neighbor and feeding and watering his cows and horses. (That's the neighbor that owns Juice and Beauty, the pony and horse. Since they have been moved to the cows' pen, Beauty has got to be a real terror. She bites the cows' rumps and chases Juice around.) And then there's the land at the end of the road. I don't really know the people that own it, or even what's on it. My road is a dead end, and the path that is beyond it is a private road.
In short, I only have one good neighbor. The rest of them just mind their own business or tell me if a big cat is roaming around.
Beauty is likely bored being penned up. Any chance of letting them out during the good weather? Of would the cattle also make a break for it?

Posted pictures and reward for his return. I also posted a comment in the local newspaper to run for a week. No response from anyone. The whole town knows that I’m looking for him. Even the sheriff’s department is looking
Sorry to hear this. Still hope someone took him in and isn’t saying anything.

She's ok this morning. I don't know how she got out, my blue egg layer BYM Torrent also got out. She was walking around on top of the covered run. I had one of my cats with me so I put him on the roof of the run next to Torrent and she flew right off. The Lavender Orpington was found next to the run and did not try to run away, too cold I guess. When chickens are wet, fluff does not make much of a difference, so I dried her off. Even though it was only 0 degrees (Celsius) yesterday, it would still cool her off.
Really glad you found them both in that case. They sure know how to get into trouble!

Bless your one good neighbor! & Bless your heart...that's a lot of responsibility for you every day. Having big cats sounds a bit ominous too. Where are your chickens housed? I'm a bit sketchy on remembering. I grew up on my folks' farm 25 acres w/2 barren acres elsewhere not adjacent...but we had only one real good neighbor family as well. The others were just into themselves. Relatives on further out farms were our best help.

Spirited Beauty obviously doesn't like the confinement but probably needs it in inclement weather. Should Beauty be in a separate area? I don't know horses but @Ponypoor & @RebeccaBoyd have done so for years ~ strong & resilient like you ❤️.

Poor Juice...was that the tiny pony? I can't imagine why an owner would give up the care of their equines & not stay on the property w/them unless the owner is elderly or sick...but that's JMHO. Do be careful for all you & the animals' sakes. We're a chatty bunch & here for support ❣️

These were our sweet neighbors originally from Oklahoma ~ Grandma Addie Johnson (middle) & her daughter Capitola "Cappy" Mineola (left) were the sweetest farm ladies on this planet. My Mom (right) c.1956

@ManueB ~ Spirit award :clap!!!
Thank you and congratulations to both @Sylvester017 and @Ponypoor.
I'm humbled to be nominated with both of you, you have so much experience and knowledge to share.
And many people on this thread would deserve indeed the spirit thing way more than I do. I agree with Kelly, we need to make an effort in the next nominations round !

I apologize for having been missing out on this thread, I wasn't fun to hang around with for the last three weeks. I'm better now and I'll catch up what I've missed. I don't have a pony for Sunday but some mountain pics from this morning. I'm sad that we have a dry winter- no snow now means nothing good for the garden next year !
