If I thought winter was going to go quietly I was a fool. Today's snow has arrived. It is not supposed to amount to much but it is pretty.

Aurora: Me thoughts Phyllis says that snow go away?

Sansa: She's keeps saysing thats. But whens?

Aurora: Me thinks it will never ends. As soon as its meltses wes gets more.

Sansa: If this doesn't ends soon I'm gonna lose its. Mes needs some grass. Green grass. Remembers that?

Lilly: Yous youngins are lucky. Not so long ago the snows was higher than coops. Wes hads to lives inside human coop for days. Hads to roostes on a ladder! Snows lasts a wholes year!

Sansa: A whole year! Mes no stands that! How's you do that!

Lilly: Wes were tougher than yous youngins. Daisy was much toughers than me. And Patsy, don't get me started. You does what Daisy sayes or else's. Shes not let's you whine likes I do. Daisy also more likes Phyllis, she loves the snows.

Aurora: Phyllis is crazy. Snows is colds on feetses. Makes my crooked toe aches so bads. Maleficent never stands this.

Lilly: Yous youngins whimps. Can't change whats happenins mights as well enjoys the view. Wes warm here. Has foods. Human rooster brings food, snacks, and warms water. Little birdses have to lives out there with no warms coop.

Aurora: Mes going to pecks Phyllis for being wrong. Wants to join ins Sansa?

Sansa: Mes too sads. Just going to stare at awfuls snow.

Phyllis: to herself " Mes tells everyone snows go away by next weeks. Whys everyone forgets this? Mes going fors a walk outsides."

Yep.

I know someone who escaped from marketing and who now refuses to purchase anything with a visible brand. Anything. She refuses to be converted into walking signage.

The opposite of my youngest daughter. They called her a "label whore" in her sorority. Thankfully she has outgrown it.

The season here starts with morels and ends with my favorite chanterelles in the fall I haven't been mushroom hunting the last few years, but it is a favorite activity and a big business around here. Oyster, lobter, turkey tail, lions mane, truffles...

So many mushrooms, all this rain has to be good for something!

Mushroon hunting is a big deal here. Most years someone dies from eating a mushroom they shouldn't have.

I was that way with my daughter as a young child. I couldn't stand seeing kids dressed in head to toe advertisements.
