One of the problems in taking in rescues and Battery hen breeds. It’s heartbreaking for us. I will do everything I can to get them comfortable, and their eggs don’t go out for consumption so I will give them antibiotics for reproductive infections, and all the things that come from our awful line breeding practices. You’re literally fighting decades of selective breeding for unnatural production levels and an expected lifespan of 2 years tops. The calcium also helps with the muscle contractions I believe.
I've had no success at all in finding calcium supplements here that is not full of zinc fillers, sweeteners and flavourings. Chewy is not an option so I got really brain drained last night searching. They have taken off the original "tums" people left messages too the company but it seems the company are just ignoring what people want too order or pay for.

Would you please let me know the antibiotics you use for for infections. I'm wondering if a human course could be used in minute doses because it is insisted that we use vets, which I do not have access to plus I'm hearing bad thing's on the ordinary cat/dog vets . I think I would trust my doctor a lot more

Marie did you see the link I sent you yesterday for one that looks OK and is a UK based brand?
I sent the link to it on the Boots website.
It is post #83,733(!) posted yesterday at about 10pm UK time.
Hope it helps.

Jaffar update: he ate a few blueberries, and some plain Greek yogurt. Then started crowing for the ladies, so I brought him back outside. He’s out there crowing right now.
❤️❤️ I'm ever so pleased too read this :love
Agatha had blueberries curled kale sardines and loads of cuddles today. I think she will be fine. I think she would sleep with me no problems, she's is as adorable as your jaffar

How old are Teensie & Weensie? I find nearly all of my older hens get spurs. Some are small...but some quite large like these - or bigger. Mind you, my 'older hens' aren't old...except that they are for hatchery stock. My oldest was Rosie, 5 1/2 years old when she passed...and a couple others made it to 5 before passing. Rest that I'm talking about were 3.5 or 4.5 y.o. and had spurs. (most are culled by 4.5 yrs old, other than a few special ones.)
They are three years and four months old. I’ve only lost one adult hen from their hatch batch and that was Speckles, my larger Isbar. There are some hens laying in this tractor still for sure… Princess and Precious I Believe, along with Crackbeak and her sister who are 2. They do usually eat their eggs so it’s quite hard to tell. I need to get the roll away beatboxes repaired and reinstalled if I plan on trying to hacht out one last generation of Sapphire/Marans Hybrids

Help I'm being stalked  Agatha won't let me go anywhere

He’s a great little guy, and I worry about him, even if he has a cough or a sniffle 🤧. I’m just a worrier.
