Thank you! I have treated my horses for 20 years primarily myself with guidance from my vet. Thankfully a lot transfers with well among animals. I've even been known to ice and apply liniment to Rich's knee on more then one occasion.

what's good for the horse is good for the husband? A new “what’s good for the goose, is good for the gander” idea?

You literally cannot buy this in Canada anymore. If I had only known I would have stocked up... many places won’t even ship these sorts of products into Canada (I’m hoping the site I bought from before with the enrofloxacin will again send me my “ornamental pigeon medications”) I don’t even know if they are going to clear customs. Worse is my darned abcessed tooth isn’t even acting up (bad root canal, and I get this pea sized abscess fairly frequently, because we don’t have dental and it doesn’t really hurt I’ve been putting off doing something about it). I would brave a dentist office for some antibiotics to give my chickens

This is not real snowfall. Just what drifted into the runs. Not a chicken to be seen. Sensible ladies are keeping their feet nice and dry inside.

Thanks! When he had the big bumble I was using these, guaze pads, and medical tape with the triple antibiotic ointment. Once the plug came out though there were still stringy pus like strands deep in the foot. I stopped soaking not wanting to introduce any bacteria from the outside of his foot and was just washing it out with sterile saline, removing as much pus as I could and rebandaging it. What’s got me confused is there’s no clear exit point for the infection and the bottom of his foothealed up completely.

He doesn’t really walk on it at all.

Reading @Shadrach's bookmark me think of another thing that could help @Kris5902. The article that Shad bookmarked is like a corn or bunion ring. Sometimes those come with salicylic acid in the middle because it softens the skin which is part of what you need to help the infection point and draw out. I think salicylic acid is available over the counter even in Canada - it is often in acne medications which is where you might find it.

A new use for a sink

Little Red is showing his new lady friends how to Bathe (they are getting less stinky! Feet look clean, relatively) but I’m still going to be trimming up some of those nasty bum feathers!) You may have missed this @Shadrach but I took on another 8 rescues that came coated in the chicken version of Raw Sewage... I was literally gagging. I don’t want to bathe them as it’s still not warm here. This is their first day free ranging on the farm, they have been here for 3 days.

And ten stray sheep, they are stealing my chicken feed and knocked over our BBQ and propane tanks. Generally trashing what little the cows didn’t and being pests. One was chasing my chickens!

I have the 17% that came with the corn pads. Or more correctly the corn pads came with it... are you thinking I could use it on that red spot where the skin is already very soft and inflamed?

I should really drag my foot drama over to my own thread...
