-------------------
We welcomed a new FBA friend into the thread - Gigachad is located in Italy, and had us do some research on 'what breed is this chicken' - RC and I both concurred that it was indeed a 'lovely chicken' :)

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26997266

As a comparison Featherhead007 posted a photo of his BR chicks.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26997439

The Silkie eggs that she purchased were candled, she feels confident with 3 eggs progressing nicely, iffy on the others.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26998817

The chicks she purchased were 5 weeks old - and growing like weeds :) I say Owly her fav is a pullet.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26988702

The big question - is Viola a he or a she? And will Lexicon's husband be good with a Rooster around - I say yes he will be :)
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26993196

The consensus is that yes Viola is a he - Victor maybe instead of Viola...
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27001729

LhickenChicken

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26988396

Greg had a bit of an issue with some of his chooks picking on one of his young Roos, Greg removed the youngster and it was decided to rehome the wee fella.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26988465

Ponypoor's niece's hen Tuff, was not doing well - beak breathing not eating... so she was brought down to Ponypoor's for some treatment. 80ml of fluid was drained from her abdomen and her breathing improved. She was also given antibiotics and pain meds.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27004044

Lilion
-------
Continues to have some worries with her chooks, seems they are well versed in 'the way of the chicken'.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26988499

Eanie, her broody was down to 3 eggs, and upon candling was sure of movement in all 3. I cannot wait to see chicks!
There was also a 'visitor' to the coop - a welcome one if it eats the baby mice!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26992223

And on the 4th July it is our US friends celebrating their Independence Day, Lilion went boating and saw a lovely bald eagle
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26995716

A new coop build is going to occur with the moving of a 12x24 building to her location, she will have a nice new coop built in part of the building.

Anyone looking to feed their chooks food stuff other than commercial feed can check out the like RC posted from Perris.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26995976

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26998567

RC had a visit with some friends in the city to celebrate 4th of July - spectacular drone and fireworks were on display.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26998516

Due to the high extreme heat warning that everyone is experiencing RC replied to ponypoor regarding the use of an 'evaporative cooler' effect (also called a swamp cooler) to help keep chooks cool.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26998911

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27002964

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27003893

....which was fixed - yay! Not having water is frustrating!

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27006499

To close or not to close, this is the question; tis nobler that though sleep on such roost, or thou slumber in close quarters...
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27005428

...thou doth slumber in close quarters! To sleep perchance to dream :)

ChicoryBlue
---------------
We were all rooting for Peanut when CB posted that she was feeling poorly...
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26999053

She was able to find a mobile Veterinarian to come and visit, the Vet drained Peanut's fluid, though the prognosis is poor.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26999741

Peanut was not improving with the pain meds and CB made the decision to help Peanut along to end her suffering.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27004653

We are all here to support CB.
