@ChicoryBlue : Postponed taking Peanut to the vet as she enjoyed a better moment https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27007753
But then, it was time. Fly high, Peanut, all your FBA friends will miss you. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27010450
Butter is worrying too. She is too thin. Until the vet comes for a flock check CB tries to tempt her to eat, and tube feeding.

An update on Butter's health : no issue detected by the vet, but definitely underweight. Could it be a molting issue like poor Sansa ? https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27023076

Have a nice weekend FBA !
Thank you! This week I REALLY needed this to catch up. Lovely synopsis and I really appreciate you spending time doing this and all the other folks that make this possible to do! ❤️

Crows?

I don’t mind them, they alert my kiddies to foxes and hawks.

Thankfully my kiddos listen to them!
I adore my murder for exactly this reason they drive off hawks and alert my flock and us to all kinds of potential threats. I give them unsalted peanuts regularly as a thank you and they also eat any remaining cat food they can find, I am sure they think it is for them 😂 My chickens also heed their warnings.

No repeat crow. But I have several honking geese it seems.
Tippy is starting that whiny hen 'I want to lay an egg' sound. But she is only 12 weeks so still a ways to go yet - though with these mutts who knows! She isn't squatting so I don't think any time soon.

Awww so tiny how old? nice colouring.

I see he likes to hide :)

The Auroras are supposed to be active this week here in Canada, though not sure if they will visible in the US.
Rathew is about two weeks old and he's a Rosetta Coturnix quail.

I honestly can't think of any other explanation of what the aqua green light was and it lasted about an hour.

It's not possible here either. We have the 7x7 coop and a run that's about 6x9 right now. They all stay together. I only have 3 hens, a rooster and now the 3 chicks. We're getting our 12x24 shed moved Mon and we will be trying to do a better set up when we "remodel" it.

The bottom one is what the MFA crumble looks like. I'm not happy at all. But it's what I have for now.
Re: feed - that sucks! So hard to get good feed. I had a bag of Sharp's Chick Starter and the crumbles were the size of the Layer crumbs - I noted the chicks I had at that time, were not thriving at all. I had some of the Floradale chick starter here and I put some in and the were all over it like swarm of bees! I went and bought some Floradale, and just used up the Sharp's later on with their chick starter when they were older and could eat it.

I use a chick starter with Amprol, but truth be told once they leave the safe house and are out and about with the rest of the gang they are eating the layer feed. Which is why I want to get an All Flock or a Grower without Amprol. Heck I would even just go with a Starter without Amprol, my laying gals all have access to oyster shell and grit.

Such a pain in the butt trying to get stuff here. It's all so generic - I can get 14,000 different types of feed for my horses - but for the chickens? NOPE!

It's the same old story as with Veterinarian care. sheesh!

And the Pilot's didn't say what it was? Could be Auroras but they generally wax and wane and fluctuate. St Almos fire I don't think lasts for an hour... but then what do I know - I have not seen either from an aeroplane at 37,000' ! An amazing sight either way :)
