You could buy calcium citrate, I have a bottle and I use it when a hen has weak shells or is egg bound
1000049624.jpg

Something like this?

I also ask everyone who gets eggs from me to return the shells and most of them also give me the shells from their store bought eggs. My hens seem to prefer egg shells to OS though I have both available to them all the time.

I have like 8 bottles of calcium pills haha, I crush them up and add them to mash, or quarter them and wrap in cheese for individual doses. I told my mother in law I needed one bottle and she brought me 7!!! It's the same one I take daily too.
I was taking calcium pills but developed gallstones & kidney stones (Xrays). Found out w/o magnesium & vitamin D to absorb the calcium into our bones the extra calcium pills by themselves just accumulates in places we don't want like our other internal organs. My over 50 DD had developed kidney stones too & FP advised her from taking the pills.

One of my CRs broke/dislocated her wing. I posted an emergency thread about it.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/chicken-broke-dislocated-wing.1657593/
If anyone has experience with broken or dislocated wings please reply to the thread. At one point I helped a neighbor who had turkeys set one of the turkeys' wing bones (they were not fed a ration with high enough calcium). However the break on the turkey's wing bone was near the middle joint in the wing not near the joint where the wing connects to the chicken's body, so in comparison that break was almost easy.
Oh, I'm so sorry! Poor baby :(. Good you posted in emergencies. I have no experience myself. All breaks are different & only a vet or experienced person can tell how easy to fix or not. My vet told me he had to amputate another patient's Leghorn wing cuz it wasn't fixable. But how easy to set all depends on where the break is. Oy-yoy-oy our birds give us heart attacks 💔!

Yeah it's a balancing act for sure. I have overfiltering kidneys so I drink over a gallon of fluids everyday to prevent kidney stones. But I also have weak bones from child/teen malnutrition(abdominal migraines and a nutrient absorption disorder). The only other treatment is concentrated lemon juice which I am deathly allergic to.
So I drink my beverages and go to the bathroom all day and if I don't keep up I have stones within a week.
By the way, here's my 3d print so far!

@RebeccaBoyd he is definitely a brick house. Either pure marans or marans cochin, likely pure marans.

It’s not illegal, but it is immoral.
The neighbor has mental health issues and so does his siblings. Right or wrong doesn’t make a difference to him. I have spoken with the wife, but she has no comment on the situation.
Here the SPCA would warn a person of the obligation to have proper housing and proper feed and water available to the animal at all times.

That doesn’t look like proper housing and no feed or water.

If the person continued to not provide these necessities then the animal/s would be removed and rehomed.

Do you not have an SPCA agency there?

The story continues obviously 🤦‍♂️
Nacho has been found in my yard yet again, harboring four new little ones. Three look like chipmunks and one is a yellow ball of fluff. Of course I had to pick them up and warm them, but I gave them back to mama. I didn’t find any nest with broken egg shells? If I did find a nest, the babies hatched on my property, which makes them my property. :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
