Weekly Synopsis: Chicken news from the Fluffy Butt Acres thread for the week ending April 6th 2024

Here is the link to last week's synopsis: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27620882

This week's Synopsis is co-authored by my cat Nightshade. I thank him for his sharp editorial insight, deletion of large chunks of text, and insertion of random letters (he favors w, v, x and r).

@BeastBaby
Is dealing with salpingitis in Becky who laid a lash egg.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27621224

And is worried about the gender of her chicks
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27637543

So she went to get another one and it is already creating drama.

@featherhead007
Has been caring for Jaffar who has been quite poorly off and on all week. He has been through a lot.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27636491

He is now blind but still looking after his ladies as best he can.

And we got a lovely (and in focus!) picture of the mighty Sir Jaffar
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27636231

The rooster from next door who bloodied up Jaffar has been back and sounds dangerous.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27630294

Thank you, RC, good work! ❤️
A tip of the tail to Nightshade for help on the copy desk :love I could use a few extra paws in the editing process myself, the clerk here is always sleeping on the job
Here's a very old pic from 2015, I have no idea where he is right now!

Got the rabbit hutches down. Dad says we should attach all three to the coop to give them nests and a hospital/broody area/extra sleeping room. We'll think about it.
I chose this one for the first extension off of the wall with the nest boxes. It was the least caked in poo and will need less work to fit for chickens. Each of these is nearly the same space they currently have to sleep on in the coop.
20240406_192404.jpg
There is a swing out door that we will be attaching to the coop opening. The mesh will all be insulated with solid walls. Then there will be a ramp down from the coop, dividers, and nest boxes added.
20240406_192330.jpg
Should give me 3 nests...so I will at least have one more. About a foot of space underneath, thinking of enclosing it with mesh. Or maybe I should raise the legs up a bit before I do that. And it'll have a swing out cleaning door for underneath if I do that.
Here are the sides and front.

Those look great!

Let me reiterate that:
It was another dark gloomy and foggy afternoon. The sun too weak to penetrate the grey sky to the ground. No shadows could be seen anywhere around. A lonely crow casts her voice on empty ears, and no other sound could be heard. A lonely man, lays quietly in an alleyway behind a dumpster where he found his only source of comfort from the bone chilling air, a discarded newspaper for a blanket. His thoughts about life, fading into darkness just as the light of the sun fades through the cold and endless fog surrounding him.!
Writing a play? Or a novel?
