Grandma is doing fine. It comes with age. I apologize for not being on here too often. I don't have a lot of pictures to share. You can all stop worrying. Grandma is doing fine. In fact, this morning I brought her inside and she had quite a conversation going...
Happy to hear that!

Oh I know you forget how small they are they grow so fast! I sure hope your older chicks are mostly pullets - I hear ya on dealing with Roos. 😟
———-

Yes I will get eggs to my niece for 02 May. Then about 19 days and babies will arrive. If I have any broodies I’ll shove them under the broodies.
Oh I meant the chicks that will be shipped to Peavey mart are about to hit the incubator 😇

I am getting just a little worried now. Why won’t Tassels drink when I haul her off the nest.
She eats. Not a lot but she definitely eats.
She poops (Lordy does that stink!).
But she does not drink.
She also doesn’t bathe (though she does preen).

I am feeding mash (just their pellets soaked in water for an hour or so) to make sure she gets some liquid. But she just runs back to her nest and doesn’t show any interest in the waterer or the wild water.

I think I am going to hang a waterer right at the entrance to her nest so she really can’t ignore it when she goes around to get back in.

Here she is looking marvelously green and eating a yucky muddy leaf. Why?!

Just keep doing what you are doing, the green will sheen!! :old

I love my rooster, but I feel so sad for him :hit when I put him outside with the girls, it’s okay for a while, but then they go away from him and he stands there motionless, not knowing what to do next. I just bring him back inside with me. :( This is no life for a knight of the court to live!
I brought in Xzit to keep him company. She’s the sweetest hen in her own right.

Weekly Synopsis: Chicken news from the Fluffy Butt Acres thread for the week ending April 6th 2024

Here is the link to last week's synopsis: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27620882

This week's Synopsis is co-authored by my cat Nightshade. I thank him for his sharp editorial insight, deletion of large chunks of text, and insertion of random letters (he favors w, v, x and r).

@BeastBaby
Is dealing with salpingitis in Becky who laid a lash egg.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27621224

And is worried about the gender of her chicks
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27637543

So she went to get another one and it is already creating drama.

@featherhead007
Has been caring for Jaffar who has been quite poorly off and on all week. He has been through a lot.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27636491

He is now blind but still looking after his ladies as best he can.

And we got a lovely (and in focus!) picture of the mighty Sir Jaffar
https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-27636231

The rooster from next door who bloodied up Jaffar has been back and sounds dangerous.

Ridges the Guinea got a fecal test down (PtR is excited about the report) and now is doing better with some treatment. Hopefully this week we will learn even more good news on Ridges.

Thank you RC!

Ridges is doing much better. I only have two female guineas, but one of them is laying eggs. I don’t think it is Ridges though, since she just got over being sick. It must be Pie, if not her. She laid her first egg two days ago - I’m so happy that I’m getting Guinea eggs again!

Aphrodite has such a sweet face. They are almost four weeks old. Do you guys think she is a pullet? Also, can you tell if she is an Ancona or Exchequer Leghorn?

I have some Dawn pictures, but I have yet to take any of the chicks. Better get to that.
