This just happened a few minutes ago. Poor Randy, just minding his own business. This is extremely mild compared to what Siri normally does. The she devil then headed back to Bubba who was watching. If he truly tried to win her over right then, Bubba would have been on him in a heart beat.

Randy update.

He is still here and I am still undecided on him. I have not been able to catch him again dang it. I can sit within arms reach and observe him but the second I move he bolts. He and Bubba still have their moments. Bubba is still the main aggressor and 90% of the time Randy retreats when he see's him coming. Actual fights have happened when Bubba charges and Randy does not see him coming, but they are still only lasting a few seconds. So far neither have drawn blood and Randy has lost each one. Bubba's comb has not turned purple again although Randy's was a little purple yesterday. Randy is spending about 90% of his time in the back yard now. He is definitely making it his home base. He will not sleep in the coop. He escorts the girls to the coop and then goes to Momma Hen's Tree. There is something special about that tree.

Most of the girls like Randy but there is one exception. Siri, my buff orp. She despises him and is proving to be worse then Bubba. Randy cannot even breed a girl in her presence. He mounts a girl and in a second she is in his face flogging and she does not let up after a few seconds like Bubba does either. All poor Randy wants to do is hide from that she wolf.

I just wish one of my hens would step in a stop the fighting when Mr P and Bert start up.

It is breaking my heart but I can’t have them locked away separately for ever, Bert needs a new home. So far no replies to my advertisement.

If I were home full time I could have two runs for them both, and swap them around for free range throughout the day.

But it would still mean in the winter someone would have to be locked away during the day. As the barn is were they over winter.

If I do keep Mr LC he will be locked in the Summer House during the day. I will need to keep him and Mrs LC in the feedroom overnight it is so cold I am sure it would be too cold for them even in the Hen House B.

I wouldn’t worry if he were in Hen House A with the main flock to cuddle with. But now I am so freaked out with him and Mr P possibly fighting.

Boys boys boys bad boys bad bad boys whatcha gonna do with the bad boys.

It was easy with horses I just gelded them, why are chickens so hard to geld

If they do not get closer they are ok with each other. Randy is also not allowed to woo a hen around Bubba either.

Thanks so much! Today kiddo got to help me with the midday egg turning! She was so gentle and rolled them just like I showed her.


She asked if we could hear the heartbeats while scribbling on her chart, I told her I think only mama chickens can at day 2...

Hubby asked me to find funny polish rooster pics he can show his coworkers, because he thinks they look hilarious. He's officially crossed over to chicken loving territory.

I wouldn't despair about Mr LC yet. I suspect he will operate separately from Mr P. He will fly and be high up where Mr P cannot even see him.
Don't give up yet - think vertically!
