Can't you sell started pullets too? (Sell a grouping ideally, so they aren't lonely.)

Let me commend you for your caring, awareness and sensitivity to the little one's behavior and what it meant. On a selfish note, I was worried about it and was going to write something. Chickens are so group-oriented, the little one's survival instincts are telling it to follow a momma hen or hatch-mates around, and when there's nobody it isn't safe, so it stays put. It would not thrive like that. You could be it's momma, but you'd have to a 24/7 momma.

I just asked a local breeder about POL BCMarans and they are $50! I am not able to afford that unfortunately.

Seems good money in POL pullets!

I have no patience for some people who have no compassion for others needs. Sir Jaffar isn’t a meth user, a drunk, or hooked on opiates. He’s a silent giant who is more understanding than many of the human species. (She certainly was, or related to the Bovine species.)

Sir Jaffar sleeps with me tonight. It’s cold here now and the heating smells of cigarettes. He doesn’t need to sleep in the animal tote tonight.

So, I caved … this lone chick is just to sad I am picking these guys up this afternoon from a local breeder. They are Ameraucanas. She had bantam cochins too (deep sighh) but sadly my big roos would be too much for them.

@ Ponypoor - I called tractor supply and they said all their chicks were mixed up they had no clue as to the breeds or sex of any of any of them Then I called rural king who left me on hold for 21 min before I gave up. Hoover and Myers are not bad at all with the added bonus of knowing the sex but in the case of my particular TS and RK they are not we’ll organized at all.

Squee!! I’m excited to watch these ameraucanas grow up! And it’ll be a sweet relief for your lone chick for sure.
